From workflow specialist to digitisation platform: JobRouter® addresses digital enterprise transformation

A scalable platform for seamless, digital work / combined process automation, document and data management as basis for enterprise digitisation / Extensible interfaces to other systems & applications for efficient, streamlined processes

In 2003, today's JobRouter AG first presented its eponymous workflow management system with the goal of converting manual work steps into digital processes and mapping those processes in a practical manner. Since then the product offerings have been steadily expanded: a powerful process automation at the core of the solution, agile document management, integrated low-code modules, powerful SOAP & REST APIs and interfaces to additional systems such as ERP, CRM or databases as well as the possibility of own application development, now form the components of the industry-independent, scalable JobRouter platform. With JobRouter, companies are now able to efficiently exchange their data between solutions and create seamless, digital processes.

The digital transformation of a company basically means replacing analogue structures. These consist of processes, data and documents, which are thus digitised and automated. Numerous solutions support those changes. However, the more tools and systems one adds, the more agile the company has to be in managing the individual applications - or it has to choose a system that takes these tasks on. As a response to the demand for agile, future-oriented corporate digitisation, the platform idea has proven itself in recent years. Although these can be aligned differently, e.g. as an e-commerce platform, as a workplace platform or as a business platform, they are still based on the same basic idea: The platform is intended to integrate and connect all existing and future applications, tools and systems, as well as to offer own strong functionalities.

Transparency, control and content under one roof

JobRouter AG represents an approach that promises enterprises agility and scalability, while at the same time they are offered greater visibility into their processes and the possibility to adapting those processes to changing requirements.

"With the help of our platform we have set the goal of solving this problem. Thanks to the advanced process automation we offer an agile core that allows all business processes to be managed efficiently through all applications and systems," says Axel Ensinger, CPO at JobRouter AG. "The main difference is, that we use data as a basis and process it according to the company's requirements. Our approach goes away from a rigid technology that sets a must. With JobRouter there are little musts, the company can decide a lot for itself and has the freedom of choice. One can see the advantages even more clearly when it comes to integrated document management: After all, documents are only data in a certain form. Thus, for our processes it’s the same whether documents are attached to the process or not. The only thing that matters is that an intelligent rights and role management retrieves the corresponding documents and files at the relevant points in the process, if necessary formats them and distributes them."

If data is available as information in all processes, documents are not required any longer. For this reason, the JobRouter digitisation platform addresses the digital enterprise transformation through data and processes, thus clearly distinguishing itself from BPM, ECM or DMS solutions. As a personal control center, JobRouter combines all company levels, departments and the system landscape, unifying governance, compliance, content and processes in a customisable dashboard. In case the existing widgets, interfaces and modules aren’t sufficient, process designers have the opportunity to develop their own applications using the integrated REST API and to integrate them completely into the application framework. The scalable offer can be used both on mobile and on desktop devices and is available as a hybrid, on-premise or cloud instance.

For the digital transformation to be realised in the shortest possible time, companies can choose between functional modules that extend the platform and adapt it to very simple or highly complex processes. This leaves freedom of choice and facilitates growth as well as organisational changes. If, on the other hand, a solution is adapted to the current status of an organisation or the current business model without leaving room for change, system limits can quickly become a problem:

„Stressing an example from private life that almost everybody knows: One takes an apartment, which fits the current budget and the situation, but doesn’t meet the overall expectation to a hundred percent. Once you start thinking about family growth or shifting your priorities, your thoughts may also start circling around moving. Consequently, this perception is often a dissatisfied one, which sees an improvement in the future. However, if you take a closer look many things have accumulated in the old apartment already, a move is no longer a simple choice - cost, resource and performance questions are on the table," explains Fritz-Jochen Weber, CEO of JobRouter AG. "Companies should deviate from this relocation strategy and should not see systems as a rigid technology. But as a potential that can grow and evolve together with the company. Decision-makers should look for such tools. With our digitisation platform, we offer a well-equipped house - but at the same time use all windows and doors for a good relationship with our neighbors."

A comprehensive digitisation of all processes, documents and data is very likely when the existing and new technologies communicate with each other. Once the competencies of one system come to an end, the digitisation platform used can take over the intermediate steps and deliver data and documents to the appropriate processes, people or applications: without manual overheads, overloaded processes or self-programmed, hardly maintainable solutions.

This means less and less work is required for manual pre-processing, post-processing or do up. Insofar as roles and corresponding rights are clearly defined, automation not only accelerates and simplifies processes, but also creates transparency across documents, data and all parties involved.
