JobRouter® & SharePoint: : Overcoming Limitations in SharePoint with Process Automation
Microsoft SharePoint is well known as a collaboration platform that many companies use as an intranet portal or content management system. However, the software reaches its full potential when its powerful components are extended with enterprise-wide digital process management.
With the JobRouter® platform, it is possible to combine agile document and process management with familiar SharePoint functionality, while reducing the programming effort to a minimum. Thanks to numerous interfaces, JobRouter® integrates seamlessly into the company’s IT infrastructure, exchanges data between existing systems, applications, and users, and brings its own powerful capabilities into the paperless office. In this way, the digitalization platform creates, optimizes, and automates process applications ranging from small projects to enterprise-class solutions.
The JobRouter® digitalization platform reduces complexity and creates digital processes that map the entire organization.
SharePoint users benefit from intelligent process workflows while continuing to work in their familiar environment: they can start processes in JobRouter® or access their inbox without needing to authenticate again. Workflows and inboxes enhanced by JobRouter® technology can be embedded into any company’s SharePoint portals. Through SharePoint system activity, it is possible to export, add, modify, and delete data and documents from SharePoint within a JobRouter® process. This creates a central repository for business information in SharePoint and standardizes access. As a result, JobRouter® delivers critical lean processes that can be adapted quickly and easily to changing business requirements.

Functionality: : Get More Out of Your SharePoint Environment
Many companies rely on SharePoint as their intranet solution. Users are already familiar with this environment and can also access other systems from there. With the JobRouter® add-in for SharePoint, SharePoint users can start processes in JobRouter® or access their inbox.
SharePoint System Activity
SharePoint system activity provides access to data and documents in SharePoint lists and document libraries. This makes it possible to export, add, modify, and delete data and documents from SharePoint within a JobRouter® process. In this way, a central repository for business information is created in SharePoint and access is standardized.
Single Sign-On
Authentication is handled either via NTLM or by passing the user who is logged into SharePoint to JobRouter®, so users do not need to authenticate again.
Configuration in SharePoint
Configuration in SharePoint is extremely simple. After the solution has been deployed, the JobRouter® web parts can be integrated into any SharePoint page. All that is required is the URL to the JobRouter® installation and a passphrase to secure communication. The web parts can then be used in production immediately.
Starting Processes
To start processes, the start box is displayed. In this view, all start steps are listed as tiles. From here, SharePoint users can open the corresponding form, complete it, and submit it without leaving the SharePoint environment.
Processing Work Items
The SharePoint add-in also provides the inbox, allowing users to view and process all items in their inbox. Here too, individual workflow items can be processed directly from SharePoint without having to log in to JobRouter® separately.
Customization
For special requirements related to SharePoint integration, such as displaying specific information from JobRouter® or making design changes, custom web parts can be created based on the existing web parts.
System Requirements
- At least JobRouter® version 4.1
- At least SharePoint 2010
